Candle Care & Safety

Simple tips for your scented candle

To get the most out of your scented candle, it’s important to store and care for it properly.

THE FIRST BURN

The first time you light your candle, don't "ghost" it. Allow the entire surface to melt into a liquid pool before extinguishing. If you cut the session short, you’ll create a "memory ring" (tunneling), and your candle will forever be as narrow-minded as your last "quick sync" meeting. Give it 1–3 hours to reach its full potential.

BURN SAFELY

Placement: Place your candle on a heat-resistant surface. Avoid drafts, open windows, and anything flammable (like the pile of "Meeting Minutes" paper airplanes).
Supervision: Never leave a burning candle unattended around children, pets, or your own wandering thoughts.
The 4-Hour Rule: Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time. Even the best things in life need an "Out of Office" reply.

TRIM THE WICK

Before every light, trim your wick to 7 mm. A properly trimmed wick prevents soot from ruining your clean aesthetic and ensures the flame stays as stable as we wish our mental health was. Use professional wick scissors; don't be a savage.

PROPERLY EXTINGUISH THE FLAME

Use a snuffer or a gentle breath to extinguish the flame. We want to avoid "smoke and splashes"—messy exits are for bad breakups, not high-end candles. Allow the wax to cool completely before moving the jar; heat-induced accidents are decidedly un-stylish.

STORING YOUR SCENTED CANDLE

Your PØURPØUR candle is at its peak for 12–16 months. After that, its "scent throw" might start to degrade—much like your motivation on a Friday afternoon.
Storage: Store in a cool, dark place.
The Accessory: If you want to put your candle on a pedestal (where it belongs), a glass cloche will protect the fragrance and keep it looking like a curated museum exhibit.
Large temperature fluctuations cause "sweating" (condensation). If your candle is looking as stressed as you are, simply wipe away the droplets and move it to a stable, climate-controlled environment.
